What is your recommended browser?

NetTrader is best viewed with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0.

What screen resolution should I use?

Our website is best viewed using an 1024x768 screen resolution. We also advise you to choose a medium font size for your browser.

I can access your site from my home but cannot get through at my office, why is that?

This often happens because your company has a firewall which limits the web sites to which you have access. Check with your System Administrator.

What should I do if I suspect there are unauthorized transactions in my account?

If you suspect there are unauthorized transactions in your account, please contact us and provide the details of the transactions to us as soon as possible. We will investigate immediately.

How do you prevent unauthorized access to my personal data and account information?

We maintain strict security standards and procedures to prevent unauthorised access to your personal information. We use leading technologies such as data encryption, firewalls, server authentication, and digital certificates to protect the security of your data. We also require users to have 128-bit encryption browsers.

How can I be sure my information and account data sent through the Internet is safe?

All information transferred between the customer and NetTrader through the Internet is encrypted using a 128-bit encryption key. That means, only you can read the messages NetTrader is sending you, and only NetTrader is able to read the messages you are sending to us.

What is a 128-bit encryption browser?

A browser using 128-bit encryption provides the highest level of commercially available security for your financial transactions. Encryption transforms the transactions you send over the Internet into a code that can only be read by NetTrader.

What is a Digital Certificate?

A Digital Certificate is a randomly generated set of characters that our computer sends to your browser. The browser on your computer stores this information and uses it to verify that the Internet address is definitely that of NetTrader. It is therefore used to confirm identity.

How can I protect my computer from unauthorized access?
  • Install virus detection software on your computer. This software needs to be updated regularly to ensure you have the most current protection available. To further protect your computer from virus infection, avoid downloading files or opening emails from unknown sources.
  • Do not use pirated software from any source.
  • Install a 'Personal Firewall' on your computer to protect you from unauthorized access. Update the firewall regularly to ensure you are covered with the latest protection.
  • Know anyone uses your computer and limit unauthorized access.
How can I protect my NetTrader account when I use the Internet?
  • Do not log on NetTrader in an area (e.g. Cyber cafe) where Internet service is shared by the public. It is very difficult to ensure these PCs are free of any hacking programs, which can capture your personal/account information.
  • Do not use links to access NetTrader unless you are sure they are from secure sources. Instead, enter the address directly or select from your favorites. This will avoid you from being sent to a fraud site.
Remember : No e-mail from NetTrader will contain a hyperlink to our NetTrader logon page.
  • Always check the date/time of your last NetTrader session. This information is available on the Welcome page immediate upon you log on NetTrader.
  • Always verify that the website you are visiting is genuine. Double click the security lock icon to check the security certificate of NetTrader.
  • Always exit by clicking the 'Logoff' button to ensure you end each NetTrader session securely. Remember : Closing the browser window does not ensure that your NetTrader session is terminated properly.
What is EV SSL Certificate?

NetTrader has implemented the latest internet security measure with the introduction of EV SSL Certificate (Extended Validation SSL Certificate). If your browser version meets the minimum requirement (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0), the URL address bar will turn green and display our company website address, the name of the certificate owner (The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited) and the security lock icon when you logon to NetTrader. This color turning feature provides you with a visual verification that let you know instantly you are on a genuine NetTrader website.

Please note that the changes will look slightly different depending on the browser version you use to logon. No visual change will appear for a browser version that does not meet the minimum requirement.

How can I assure myself that I am connecting to NetTrader?

For Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0

(1) Click the 'security lock icon'.
(2) Check that the certificate information is displayed with:

  • Issued to:
www.ebroking.hsbc.com.hk
  • Issued by:

  • Valid from:
(Check if this certificate is within a valid date)
