A series of orientation activities designed to familiarise you with the new environment and prepare you for going forward to your first projects and attachments.
Commercial Banking
Commercial Banking provides a broad range of banking services to businesses across the market, with the aim of setting the international standard for commercial banking. This goal is supported by a two-pronged strategy that seeks to establish us as "the leading international business bank" and "the best bank for small business", customer segments targeted by our Corporate Banking and Business Banking divisions respectively.
Retail Banking and Wealth Management
Retail Banking and Wealth Management provides a wide range of targeted, high-quality personal banking services to Hong Kong consumers through a wide and constantly expanding range of innovative channels.
The division encompasses Retail Distribution, Phone Banking, Internet and Self-Service Banking, Product Management, Insurance, Marketing, and Strategic Business Analysis and Development.
Risk
Risk supports the Group across a wide spectrum of risk management and control activities, such as credit risk management, market risk monitoring and the calibration of risk models. Working in partnership with all of our customer groups to help maximise business opportunities, the division takes a 'can-do' attitude to promoting portfolio quality and balancing risk and reward so that our business can operate effectively and profitably.
Technology and Services
Technology and Services is responsible for integrating technological and organisational processes that deliver cost-effective business solutions for the Group. The division helps us to keep up with the ever-changing operational demands of the global marketplace, and to improve and refine our work processes in order to deliver and support the provision of the high-quality services that our customers have come to expect.
Crucible Attachments
Two six-month placements within functional business divisions other than your Career Bias attachment, offering an expansion of your exposure to other areas of the business. Choose from Commercial Banking, Retail Banking and Wealth Management, and Delivery (Technology and Services or Risk).

Elective Attachments
Take on two six-week placements, chosen from a wide selection of our business divisions, intended to cultivate a broader awareness and operational understanding of key specialist functions and businesses.
Cross-Portfolio Projects
Going beyond your day-to-day functional remit, you will regularly be asked to participate in special cross-functional projects assigned to groups of Management Associates by the Hong Kong Executive Committee.

Performance Management
Enjoy the benefits of performance assessments from line management every six months, complemented by feedback sessions with programme management and Human Resources coaches.
Mentoring and Support
HSBC offers comprehensive mentoring and ongoing support at every turn through our structured development schemes. Participants will be assigned a mentor to provide coaching and guidance throughout the programme, augmented by a line mentor in each attachment to facilitate technical learning.
Management Associates will also be paired with a "buddy" specially selected from a group of high-performing previous graduates of our suite of management programmes. They will provide guidance and support with a particular emphasis on business sustainability issues.

Networking and Events
Regular networking events over the course of the programme will provide you with opportunities to connect and build relationships with local and regional senior management.
Future
Upon completion of the 24-month programme, you will be placed in a medium-term anchor role within a specific HSBC business function, from which you will have the opportunity to prove your abilities and further develop your skills in a particular speciality.
In the years following the programme and anchor role you will be expected to take a proactive approach to developing your business exposure. Within 7-10 years you should have acquired the knowledge and skills to take on a cross-functional senior leadership role, working to drive the ongoing progress and success of our business.
