Technology
Our Information Technology Department is the backbone of our business success at HSBC, while we are also the largest privately owned integrated corporate network in the world. Committed to leading technology-driven solutions within the industry, we act as a strategic business partner to enable the Bank to chart its long-term growth.
Our 24-30-month* Management Development Programme will involve you in projects that are truly global in scale, where you will have the opportunity to directly impact a customer's banking experience through the technological innovations we develop. With a technically challenging approach, the programme is ideal for individuals who are pragmatic, highly analytical but who also have the potential to be a future leader.

Software Delivery
This team develops and deploys software products and solutions to meet business requirements and provides ongoing support for our live systems. It also works with other IT departments to define and plan the introduction of new systems or changes to existing systems, identifying costs and requirements and ensuring that plans are in place to address them.
IT Operations
IT Operations develops, implements and manages our IT infrastructure and all supporting services that are critical to our day-to-day business operations. The team also ensures that IT infrastructure systems are running at optimal capacity and efficiency. Divisions within the function include Systems Programming/Engineering, Technical Services, Database Administration, Telecommunications, Computer Operations/Network Operations, Operational/Production Support and User Support.
Operational Delivery
Operational Delivery is at the heart of the Bank's daily operations, providing essential centralised functions to the Bank. As a leading global bank, we need a proactive, intuitive and highly capable Operations team to support our critical functions, both locally and across the Asia-Pacific Region.
Our 24-30-month* Management Development Programme provides you with a broad mix of management training and development opportunities, including exposure to our regional Operational Delivery function. You will also acquire practical project management skills in areas from transactional and securities processing to contingency planning, ensuring you are well-equipped to take on any future challenges.

Network Services Centre
This Centre provides efficient and cost effective centralized payment and transactional processing that is so critical to the profitable operation of our banking operations.
Securities Operations Centre
This centre provides efficient and cost effective centralized securities processing for our Hong Kong-based Custody and Clearing, Asset Management, Trustee and Broking businesses.
Main Treasury
This is the largest cash handling centre in Hong Kong and is the sole distributor in HKSAR for coins and HKD10 notes issued by the Government. It handles banknotes issuance and destruction, and monitors the supply of banknotes and coins to the branch network and other banking institutions in Hong Kong.
Card Services
This team is responsible for all aspects of operational support of the Bank's card schemes with the aim of ensuring efficient, compliant and effective service quality.
Regional Service Delivery
The Regional Service Delivery team is responsible for the creation and execution of a seamless service delivery proposition across the region maximizing cost efficiency and driving up customer advocacy for the Group.
Operational Performance Improvement
This team provides consultation and project management services to deliver process improvement, re-engineering and automation for the benefit of HSBC's customers. They are responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of all change initiatives - from the creation of business cases through to the post implementation reviews.
Planning, Finance & Quality
Within HSBC Technology and Services, the Planning, Finance and Quality department plays a pivotal role in supporting our HTS functions to deliver high quality, cost effective projects, systems and services to our customers.
Security & Fraud Risk
This function is directly responsible for the protection of staff, customers, assets, buildings and information in all of the Bank's regional entities. This is achieved by taking measures to reduce the risk from terrorism, crime and those individuals or groups hostile to HSBC interests, and by ensuring that suitable contingency procedures are in place. Specifically, the function is responsible for financial crime & fraud risk management, e-risk & information assurance, physical protective security, business continuity planning, security intelligence and business intelligence.
Procurement
The scale and scope of our purchasing activities are vast. Our product portfolio is diversified and includes IT, Marketing and Services, so this function manages major budgets and implements some of the world's most advanced electronic purchasing and supply systems. It also manages the acquisition of products and services for HSBC in the Asia Pacific region, and provides professional sourcing, negotiation, contracting and performance management to ensure quality, cost effectiveness and time to market.
Corporate Real Estate
In this function, a small team of core specialists including engineers, valuers and quantity surveyors serve as the custodians of one of the largest corporate real estate portfolios in the Asia-Pacific region. We provide the right property at the right time to satisfy current and future requirements in a cost effective and flexible manner, utilising internal and external service providers to deliver appropriate professional services. We optimise the cost of property, minimise property liabilities and maximise the value of owned property assets.
Customer Group Attachment
This phase of the programme will give you exposure to the customer facing side of our business as well as developing your commercial orientation and business knowledge. You will have the opportunity to learn about business drivers and commercial requirements, and you will develop an understanding of consultancy that is essential for delivering high quality systems and services to support the Bank's business goals.
International Attachment
One of the objectives of the programme is to impart an appreciation of the technology and operational delivery functions within our overseas offices. Through this phase of the programme, you will observe first hand how HSBC are 'joining up' to leverage our global, regional and country level capabilities to deliver world-class systems and services to our customers.
Group Graduate Development Programme
