Attachment in Frontline Business
To help you familiarise with HSBC's front-line businesses, you will spend one to three months in different customer groups, including Commercial Banking and Personal Financial Services.
The first phase of the programme will also be supported by an orientation programme and essential training courses.
Wholesale Credit Risk
This team has credit risk management responsibilities covering the full range of wholesale counterparties which include Sovereigns, Banks, Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Corporates and intra-group entities. It also has responsibility for the review and assessment of Countries and for the approval of cross border risk.
Retail Credit Risk
This team oversees the Group's Retail lending including: residential mortgages, cards, and other consumer or personal lending. Key aspects of the work undertaken include the development and management of appropriate retail risk management structures across the Group, setting policy governing risk management of retail portfolios and undertaking Retail Credit Reviews examining retail portfolio risk management across the Group.
Operational Risk
This team is responsible for the provision of guidance and support to Group members, ensuring that the Operational Risk requirements are implemented, monitored and maintained.
Risk Strategy
This team builds and executes enterprise risk process of Asia-Pacific through the development of Risk Appetite framework and Portfolio Management capability. The team also drives regional risk Plan, Forecast, Provision, and Stress testing process and view development.
Risk Infrastructure
This team is responsible for the development and implementation of Group systems which provide credit risk functionality, and the definition of a coherent systems Strategy and for driving forward and monitoring the implementation of that strategy.
Traded Credit and Market Risk
This team oversees the design, development and implementation of market risk policy across the Group's Markets and non-Markets businesses globally. It is also responsible for the approval / design of the methods used to measure the quantum of credit exposure arising from Global Markets' trading activities, approval of internal models for the calculation of regulatory capital requirements, business ownership and direction of systems used to calculate exposures and to record / track credit limits, specification of policies on credit risk management, including trading agreements and collateral management.
Credit Quality Assurance
This regional team protects and enhances shareholder value by providing an independent and rigorous assessment of wholesale credit risk on a continuous basis across all areas in Asia-Pacific and at all levels of the wholesale credit approval chain.

Core Placement in Risk Management Function in Asia Pacific
The final phase of the programme involves a core placement in one of the Risk Management functions in Asia Pacific. You will be able to gain regional exposure and transfer what you have learnt from the Hong Kong head office to the region. You will have hands-on experience on how the regional Risk Management functions run and how they support local businesses.
With satisfactory performance, by the end of the placement, you will graduate from the programme and assume either an Assistant Manager or Manager role in Risk Management.
