During the two months I spent with the Global Payments and Cash Management (PCM) Product Channel Team, I felt very grateful and happy. Working in the Regional Headquarters of PCM, I had many chances to communicate and work with staff from other countries. Even though the connection just lasted for a short period of time, this allowed me to have a sense of how members of a multinational corporation link and cooperate together to complete a project.
As a participant of the Summer Student Placement, I did not expect that I would be able to get involved in important projects and serious meetings. However, in the last few weeks of my placement, I attended the Regional PCM Workshop. Although I did not take on any major roles in the Workshop, I learnt the trends of PCM globally and the various challenges that management is faced with.
Apart from the working culture, I also had a good experience being in a friendly working environment. When I first entered the office, I felt the passion from my supervisors and my colleagues. Their warm welcome eliminated my worries and let me adapt to the working environment quickly, allowing me to concentrate on work immediately.
This Placement Programme was a precious experience. I not only gained useful knowledge of the banking industry but also made a lot of friends. I am sure that we will keep in touch and have gatherings frequently. I hope my future working experience will be as enlightening and that my working environment is as pleasant as the Placement Programme at HSBC.
