Our Technology and Services One-year Industry Placements offer high potential students the opportunities and exposure needed to progress to a successful technology career in banking. They provide opportunities in a diverse range of technology roles across the breadth of our business, from Retail Banking to Commercial Banking and Investment Banking, with students placed with the area best suited to developing their individual skills and fulfilling their personal aspirations.
During the placement you will experience the challenges of a technology driven business environment, contributing to meaningful projects that have a direct impact on our business success, from supporting core infrastructure to developing algorithmic trading tools and beyond. This will offer you an ideal learning environment alongside the opportunity to connect with technology-minded colleagues around the world.
Experience
As one of our One-year Industry Placement trainees, your role will go beyond the typical intern experience, positioning you as an important member of our team with accountability to match your ability to excel. The benefits you will receive in terms of business exposure and knowledge building will form a strong basis for your future career, as you carry forward the experiences of networking with highly skilled professionals while working on real projects that make tangible contributions to our business success.
On completion of your placement period, we will assess your performance and other qualities against our graduate recruitment criteria. Those with outstanding performance will be given priority for a permanent position upon graduation, subject to achieving a minimum of upper second-class honours.
Learning and Development
We offer a range of opportunities for you to continue developing your knowledge and skills during your placement, with a selection of initiatives aimed at complementing and augmenting your on-the-job development:
Through the monthly IT Speaker Series, students have the opportunity to hear directly from senior managers of various departments across our IT business functions. Offering unique insight into the workings of various business roles and practices, students will be able to ask questions and take advantage of the constructive networking opportunities these events represent.
Student Learn and Share Sessions are monthly opportunities for students to meet and share what they have learned through the placement. Organised and facilitated by a member of the Student Placement Committee and/or the placement manager, these sessions will provide a forum in which to formulate and discuss ideas on how to collaborate with and support each other in the workplace.
With our Performance Management initiatives, you will enjoy the benefits of regular coaching and performance assessment complemented by feedback sessions with the placement management team, all intended to ensure you continue developing to make the most of your talent.
Eligibility
One-year Industry Placements offer the ideal preparation for students keen to build a technology and operations career in a leading business environment. To be eligible for a place, you will need to be a second or penultimate year student of any discipline. A GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred. Applicants must also have a proficient command of written and verbal English and the right to work in Hong Kong.
Beyond these basic requirements, we are looking for students who are passionate about results, willing to take on a challenge, and ready for an active role in a globally connected team environment. We are looking for self-motivated innovators who aspire to be leaders of integrity with the highest ethical standards.
