Credit Risk Management


In the highly competitive corporate/commercial banking sector, HSBC's Credit Risk Management (CRM) plays a key role in promoting portfolio quality and balancing risk and reward. The Risk Identification Team (RID) in CRM provides various services to departments within the Bank, including risk identification and financial advice for potential problem accounts. We are now looking for a self-motivated person to join the team as Senior Risk Identification Manager.


Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Risk Identification Manager Team Head, the job holder will be responsible for:

  • Review the corporate, institutional and commercial banking lending portfolio with reference to specific filters such as account conduct, KMV data, share prices and media reports to identify potential problem accounts
  • Analyse problem situations by making proper recommendations to improve lending positions
  • Ensure risks are thoroughly assessed in credit proposals submitted by lending executives
  • Monitor developments of accounts identified as potentially problematic
  • Coordinate with relationship managers to develop appropriate strategies for problem accounts and to monitor subsequent implementation
  • Supervise, motivate and lead a small team of Risk Identification Mangers
  • Conduct industry analysis/research to assist the corporate, institutional and commercial banking departments in understanding/mitigating specific industry/sector risk
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with lending executives by providing value-added service

Requirements

  • A degree holder with a minimum of eight years' banking experience, preferably with good exposure in commercial banking and trade finance
  • Good knowledge of lending skills, ideally with more than five years' exposure as a relationship manager
  • Experience in conducting regular studies/reviews on industry trends and portfolio segmentation analysis
  • Be change-oriented and able to cope with pressure and tight deadlines
  • Good language skills in written and spoken English and Chinese. Fluency in Putonghua is an advantage
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered for the role of Risk Identification Manager
