AMH Area Management


HBAP's operations in Hong Kong (AMH) represent a significant and highly profitable part of the Group, whilst HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited (HBCN) is a key growth country for the Group. Both comprise of a diverse array of businesses with varying complexity and interdependence and also represent the primary countries for which the Executive Director for Hong Kong and Mainland China has executive management accountability over.


AMH is one of the three note-issuing banks in Hong Kong, holding continuing membership to the Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB). HKAB plays a leading and visible role in both the financial and regulatory environment of Hong Kong. The Executive Director's Office is responsible for managing HBAP's membership with HKAB. When the Executive Director for Hong Kong and Mainland China assumes the Chairmanship every three years, Senior Manager Executive Director's Office assumes the role of Secretary of HKAB, which is a high profile, public appointment providing leadership, as well as support, to maintain HKAB's position in the political, regulatory and industry environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing matters related to the Bank as a member of the Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB) by acting as the focal point to involve all relevant senior executives, ensuring the Bank commits itself only after proper analysis and approval at the appropriate level in response to industry issues raised by HKAB
  • Supporting Senior Manager Executive Director's Office in assuming position of Secretary of HKAB every three years while also ensuring the smooth running of HKAB's Secretariat as well as planning and preparing for regular main committee meetings
  • Acting as an executive resource for Executive Director's Office in assisting the Executive Director in exercising management oversight of AMH, HBCN as well as Macau and HSBC Rural Bank. Assistance is provided through, not limited to, reviewing and preparing management reporting as well as performing research and analysis on issues relating to business, deals/transactions and banking technical matters

Requirements

  • University degree holder with a professional accountancy, Chartered Financial Analyst or MBA-equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of seven years' broad work experience in the banking or financial services related industry with demonstrated knowledge of Hong Kong and PRC banking industries and regulations
  • Self-motivated and proactive individual with excellent organisational skills
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities with a proven track record of successfully working with both external parties and internal senior management
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin
