The Strategic Business Analysis and Development department (SBA&D) is a centralised unit responsible for strategic planning, business and market intelligence/analysis, and business development to support the growth of the Personal Financial Services (PFS) businesses in the Asia-Pacific region.
Career opportunities are available in three Core Teams under SBA&D:
STRATEGIC PLANNING AND ANALYSIS
The Strategic Planning and Analysis team is responsible for three crucial aspects of the PFS business across the region:
Strategic Planning involves developing and supporting both regional and country specific PFS growth strategies through robust analysis of the business and the market and identifying future trends.
Business Analysis encompasses transferring business ideas into sound financial projections, analysing profit drivers across product and distribution channels, and determining return on investment for specific capital expenditure.
Performance Reporting entails finding out what drives sales and business growth and reporting business performance to PFS senior management and the Group Head Office.
BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE
The Business Intelligence (BI) team is responsible for the Asia-Pacific PFS Business Intelligence strategy with the objective of developing a standardised/automated management information solution and associated business application across sales management and incentives, marketing, strategic business analysis and management reporting.
Ultimately, BI provides a cohesive capability to deliver information to help the business make informed, data-driven decisions based on clean, reliable information that supports both current and historical analysis - it enables business leaders to make strategic decisions. The creation of a standardised and more granular data solution will improve business efficiencies and allow greater focus on value-added analysis and management usage of data.
The BI team currently has two streams of strategic focus: i) development of the Management Information Data Analysis System and supporting the new incentive scheme for the Hong Kong sales network; ii) development of the regional PFS BI strategy and implementation.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
The Business Development function focuses on the identification, review and execution of inorganic PFS growth opportunities. Such opportunities may include acquisitions, joint venture arrangements and other strategic business partnerships.
In assessing inorganic opportunities, the Business Development team has to gain a fundamental understanding of the relative market and sector attractiveness across the Asia-Pacific region. In understanding the market dynamics, it is possible to identify inorganic opportunities that provide some form of strategic fit, whether it will be in the form of scale, the proposition or the platform, for example. Business development targets are then assessed to determine the opportunities for driving value creation.
The Business Development team is responsible for managing PFS related deal processes and ultimately recommending transaction structures, pricing and terms for approval.
