HSBC Climate Change Corporate Partnership Programme

The HSBC Climate Change Corporate Partnership Programme is a ground-breaking initiative providing holistic support to customers with both financial and non-financial solutions to build sustainable business and meet global challenges presented by the economic crisis and climate change.

This programme, first of its kind in Hong Kong, offers a unique platform enabling the Hong Kong SAR Government, non-governmental organisations and the business community to exchange views and experiences on combating climate change. It also helps companies improve their operational effectiveness and cashflow management while contributing to protect the environment.

Some 180 corporate customers and partners participated in the seminar themed "Building Sustainable Business in a Challenging Time", which was the first of a series of this new programme.

HSBC's financing solutions to SMEs including

  • HSBC SME Global Fund: Provide financing for small businesses in Hong Kong with a total of HK$16 billion.
  • Green Equipment Financing: Support customers to invest in eco-friendly equipment.
  • Energy Efficiency Loan Scheme: Help enterprises save energy and loan interest.

Apart from the Bank's financing solutions, the seminar gave the participants practical step-by-step guide on "greening" their day-to-day operations with the HSBC-funded low-carbon business tools including:

  • The Hong Kong Business Guide to Emission Reduction developed by Climate Change Business Forum
  • Low-Carbon Office Operation Programme managed by WWF Hong Kong
  • Hong Kong Carbon Reduction Campaign organised by The Climate Group

The best practice of Li & Fung's utilisation of financial solutions and low-carbon tools was also shared in the first workshop.

Some 200 corporate customers and partners participated in the business forum themed "Business Opportunities in Sustainable Supply Chain Management" on 28 Sep 2009.

Green Financing, the first product in Hong Kong that finances the purchase of environmentally friendly equipment for businesses and related installation and renovation costs was launched at the business forum. It aims to encourage customers to undertake capital investment in projects that have a positive environmental impact.

Besides the financing solutions, the seminar also introduced business friendly low-carbon tools and invited representatives from Li & Fung and Lever Style Inc also shared their experience and competitive advantage in sustainable supply chain management
