Community giving

Since December 2003, HSBC has donated surplus food from the Bank's canteens to the needy and underprivileged in Hong Kong. Between December 2003 to December 2007 the Bank donated about 9,800 kg of food (equivalent to over 19,000 meals) to St James' Settlement, which benefited around 320 people each month.

HSBC also supports the Red Cross and donates excess office equipment, furniture, food, clothes, books and Chinese new year gifts to the following local charities:

• Christian Action
• Caritas and the Salvation Army
• Hong Kong Family Welfare Society
• Hong Chi Pinehill Advanced Training Centre
• St James' Settlement
