HSBC Financial Literacy

The HSBC Financial Literacy Programme aims to increase the financial literacy with an emphasis of young people aged 16 to 25 and women entrepreneurs.

In 2005 HSBC launched the programme in 27 countries with a USD3 million commitment over three years. The programme was developed by the Bank's Global Banking and Markets division customer group in conjunction with the HSBC Global Education Trust and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).

"This programme gives SIFE university students practical skills, which, when combined with a strong sense of business ethics, are highly regarded by today's employers."

Chief Executive, HSBC Global Education Trust

SIFE estimates that more than 2,850 students were involved and nearly 170,000 individuals benefited directly from the projects.
