In addition to financial services, HSBC helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) grow their business by becoming more profitable and productive as well as by providing counselling services.
Supported by the Business Environment Council and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, the Living Business programme has three key components:
- The annual HSBC Living Business Awards recognises socially and environmentally responsible SMEs in Hong Kong.
- A series of free seminars where SMEs can get practical advice on sustainable business practices
- The Living Business website which provides information and advice on a range of corporate responsibility issues

The Bank provides various counselling services to help SMEs develop and grow their business. Since 2001, HSBC has supported the Business Advisory Service programme organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
The HSBC Living Business programme is supported by HSBC Commercial Banking, the Business Environment Council and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service.

The judging panel of the Living Business Awards comprises senior executives from HSBC, government officials, academics and trade union representatives.
SMEs present their CR performance to the judging panel.
The Diamond Award winner receives a cash prize of HKD80,000.
