The 3rd Tour of Hong Kong Shanghai - HSBC Hong Kong Stage

The 3rd Tour of Hong Kong Shanghai HSBC Hong Kong Stage was held with great success on 19 October 2008. HSBC not only title sponsors the race and Hong Kong team, Chief Executive Officer Sandy Flockhart also led an HSBC team of 50 staff to participate in the Harbour Fun Ride. Joining them were 200 riders from corporates, government departments, tertiary institutions and members of the public. Secretary for Environment Edward Yau also officiated at the ceremony to support the green sport.

Together with about 100 professional cyclists, the group rode from HSBC Main Building along the Eastern Island Corridor to Heng Fa Chuen Playground in Chai Wan, where the professional riders continued to race along 22 laps of a circuit.

While pedaling for a green community, the participating corporate teams and individuals also raised HKD400,000 to support WWF Hong Kong’s sustainable living education programmes for our next generation. The fund-raising initiative enables more than 600 students to take part in WWF Hong Kong’s Walk for Nature@Mai Po programme, providing the participants an opportunity to learn more about climate change and sustainable living.
