Environmental reporting is an important part of the Bank's corporate sustainability initiatives. The HSBC Group has measured its impact on the environment since 2001.

We measure and communicate our total consumption of energy, water and paper, as well as travel mileage, waste and greenhouse gas emissions for all the properties owned or leased by the Group.  Each year we set targets and implement initiatives to reduce our resource consumption and carbon dioxide emissions
