Awards and rankings

HSBC has been widely awarded across its corporate sustainability programmes over the years. Some key and recent ones are:

  • Won the Top Donor Award for the Community Chest Dress Special Day for the 15th consecutive year having contributed more than HK$1.47 million in 2007.
  • Outstanding Partnership Award 2007/08 under the Caring Company Scheme from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for our partnership with the Hong Kong Family Welfare Association in the 'Loving Bridge' programme, providing skills-based social education for ethic minorities.
  • The Heart of Gold Awards 2007 jointly organised by Ming Pao Weekly, the Better Hongkong Foundation and the Peace and Development Foundation in recognition of the Bank's commitment to and its leading role in corporate sustainability, especially in areas of education, environment and community welfare. HSBC is the first financial services organisation to win this accolade in the Award's two-year history.
  • Awarded Community Chest's Top Donor for the eighth consecutive year having contributed about HK$9 million in the 2006/07 campaign year.
  • Since 1998, HSBC has won the Champion of the Highest Service Hour Award organised by Social Welfare Department for the seventh time.
  • Outstanding Partnership Project Award 2005/06 under the Caring Company Scheme from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for our partnership with Hong Chi Association in the Community Education Institute project.
  • Awarded the Outstanding Strategic Conservation Partners Award and the Double Diamond Member Award by WWF Hong Kong for its longstanding support to WWF's conservation projects.
  • Caring Company Award for five consecutive years since 2002. In 2004/05 Total Caring Award organised by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for its continual, sustainable and strong commitment to promote the well-being of employees, their families and the community.
  • Outstanding Partnership Project Award 2004/05 under the Caring Company Scheme from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for our partnership with Junior Achievement Hong Kong in the Company Programme Project.
  • Environmental Performance Award 2006 under the Hong Kong Awards for Industries in Environmental Performance category organised by Trade and Industry Department and Business Environment Council.
  • Best Company for Women in the Women of Influence Awards, jointly organised by the American Chamber of Commerce and the South China Morning Post. HSBC is the first financial services organisation to win this accolade in the Award's four-year history. More
  • Best Practice Award in Training and People Development 2006 and 2007 organised by the Best Practice Management Group.
  • Excellence in Training - Individual Awards (four trainers awarded in 2006 and five in 2007) organised by Hong Kong Management Association.
  • Award for Excellence in Practice - Workplace Learning and Performance 2005 and 2007 organised by The American Society of Training and Development.
  • Won global Gold Quill Merit Award 2006 for its outstanding achievements in raising employees' awareness of the importance of corporate sustainability in our business and the community.
  • The top Hong Kong Environmental Achievement Leadership Award 2008 and the Hong Kong Enterprise Environmental Achievement Award 2008 organised by the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Association recognising HSBC's leading and proactive efforts to raising environmental awareness and participation in the Hong Kong community to combat climate change.
  • Best-of-the-Best 'Star Eco-Business' Award 2008 organised by the Prime Magazine and the Business Environment Council recognising HSBC's leading sustainable business practices and its proactive approach to raise environmental awareness among employees, customers as well as the members of the public.
  • Eco-Service Enterprise Award under the Top Service Awards 2007 organised by Next Magazine.
  • Sustainable Bank of the Year 2006 in the first Financial Times Sustainability Banking Awards.
  • Top Financial Company 2006 in Covalence Ethical Ranking: Best Ethical Quote Score, Best Ethical Quote Progress, and Best Reported Performance.
