Learning and development

Our success depends on the quality of services we provide to our customers, so does our ability to attract, develop and motivate our employees.

HSBC provides a supportive environment and extensive learning opportunities to help employees develop their skills and knowledge to enhance their professional and personal lives.

As well as attending classroom and e-training courses, employees can also broaden their knowledge and exposure to different cultures through exchanges and overseas assignments.

Corporate sustainability forms a core part of the training for relationship managers working within our Commercial Banking and Global Banking and Markets businesses. It includes training on reputational risk, lending, brand values and delivering against the Group's strategy.

  • In 2006 each Hong Kong employee spends an average of 22 hours attending classroom and e-learning courses.
