HSBC was ranked first in the Hang Seng Index (HSI) Listed Companies CSR Survey which demonstrated the Bank's leadership in corporate sustainability.
- The survey, commissioned by Oxfam Hong Kong and conducted in Asia by CSR Asia, aims to showcase leading companies' global performance for responsible business practices.
- Covered 43 constituent companies listed in the Hang Seng Index (HSI*) and involved comprehensive rounds of desktop surveys, phone interviews and evidence collection processes.
- Companies were assessed by their performance on seven core areas including corporate governance, strategy, stakeholder engagement, supply chain, workplace, environment and community investment.
- The results will likely push for more actions by the listed companies in Hong Kong.
*Companies listed on the Hang Seng Index represent roughly 65% of total capitalisation in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, covering 11 industries and 28 sectors and have an enormous impact on the Hong Kong economy, as well as social and environmental issues.
