With a HKD time deposit account you deposit your money for a set period of time, and in return, you receive a higher rate of interest over a savings account.

Who does it suit?

Customers who do not need immediate access to their funds and would like to earn higher rates of interest than those of a savings account.

Features

  • Deposit tenors range from one day to 36 months
  • Minimum deposit size of HKD10,000

Benefits

  • Access your account via branches, HSBC phonebanking or Internet Banking
  • HSBC Premier customers may enjoy a preferential time deposit interest rate higher than the Bank's time deposit board rates.
  • Choose from a number of renewal options when your time deposit matures

What is a Foreign Currency Time Deposit?

Foreign Currency Time Deposit allows you to earn higher interest over a savings account for a set period of time.

Who does it suit?

Customers who do not need immediate access to their funds and would like to take advantage of the higher interest rates for some foreign currencies.

Features

  • Select from 10 major currencies5
  • Deposit tenors range from one week to 36 months
  • Interest is paid half-yearly (only applicable to time deposits of 18 months or above) or on maturity
  • Minimum deposit can be as little as USD2,000 for US dollar deposits
