What are Secure Online Payments?

HSBC's Verified by Visa and MasterCard® SecureCode™ provide you with extra security and peace of mind when you shop online with your HSBC's personal credit cards*.

How it works:

• Available at no additional cost and with no software to download
• All you need is your HSBC Internet Banking username, password, and security device to register
• Create a secret password** and personal message of your choice for Secure Online Payments
• Verify that the authentication screen is genuine by checking that the personal message during your purchase is the one you created at the time of registration
• Enter your password for Secure Online Payments to authenticate the transaction and complete your purchase.
• Secure conditional authentication for any purchases you may make before registration***.

* All HSBC's personal credit cards, except JCB Gold card, can enjoy the secure online payment services.
** If you forget the Verified by Visa password or SecureCode, you may logon to HSBC Internet Banking, select "Cards" and click "Maintenance" at "Verified by Visa" or "MasterCard SecureCode" to reset your password or SecureCode.
*** To protect customers' interests, if customers have not registered the cards for HSBC's secure online payment services, they are required to complete 3 questions that verify personal information to authenticate the payment in the online merchants with Verified by Visa / MasterCard SecureCode.
