Security Device 1st and 2nd Generation

You may own a 1st or 2nd Generation Security Device to log on to Personal Internet Banking. Know more about the internet banking services available to you through these devices

The PIN-protected Security Device is considered a secure way to log on to Personal Internet Banking. You can apply for one, free of cost, by logging on to Personal Internet Banking and accessing the "Service Requests" menu.

1st Generation Security Device

1st Generation Security Device log on to Personal Internet Banking is considered more secure than the dual-password log on mode.

To generate a code on your Security Device, simply press the button on the device.

Apart from those functions supported by the dual-password logon mode, the 1st Generation Security Device (shown on the right) provides you access to the following services on Personal Internet Banking

Personal details maintenance

  • eAlert service registration
  • ATM/Credit Card PIN request
  • Update personal information

Banking services

  • Transfer (to non-registered accounts)
  • Bill payment
  • Account opening
  • Cheque book ordering
  • Autopay set up / modification
  • Global transfer (for HSBC Premier and Advance only)

Card and Loans services

  • Credit Card application
  • Personal Loan application
  • MasterCard® SecureCode™ / Verified by VISA registration
  • Credit card limit increase

2nd Generation Security Device

The 2nd Generation Security Device allows you to access Personal Internet Banking services supported by the dual-password and 1st Generation Security Device log on mode in addition to the transactions which require "Transaction Signing".
