An overdraft1 offers you extra money whenever you need it. It can help you deal with something unexpected or give you extra spending.

Our range of overdraft, secured credit and clean credit options give you access to credit as and when you need it, helping you to keep your finances flexible. You can get overdraft protection too, to help you if your circumstances change.

If you're an HSBC Premier, HSBC Advance or Personal Integrated Account2 customer, you can get higher credit limits by securing a credit line against your assets.

Borrow money with a low interest rate and a high credit line, so you have flexibility when you need it. Cash withdrawals are easy thanks to a revolving credit line.

Overdraft protection

Get standby overdraft protection with a credit limit up to HKD20,000 for HSBC Premier customers and HKD5,000 for HSBC Advance and Personal Integrated Account customers.

Applicable to customers who have maintained at least three months' satisfactory credit record and a total of credit relationship of HKD40,000 for HSBC Premier customers and HKD10,000 for HSBC Advance and Personal Integrated Account2 customers in the previous calendar month. Important information

To borrow or not to borrow? Borrow only if you can repay!

1. If you give us any of the below instructions:
a) pay or withdraw from your account,
b) issue a cheque,
c) make a payment from your account by autoPay,
d) set up a standing instruction to pay from your account,
e) make a payment from your account by telegraphic transfer,
f) make a payment from your account by Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS),
which if executed by us, would cause your account to go overdrawn or over an existing overdraft limit, we will treat this as your ad-hoc request for an unauthorised  overdraft.

We may agree to your request and provide you with an overdraft. The amount of the unauthorised overdraft will be subject to our prevailing interest rate calculated  on a daily basis. We will also charge a handling charge for the unauthorised overdraft on each occasion. For details, please refer to Overdraft Fees & Charges.

Alternatively, we may refuse your request and your instruction, return the cheque to you (if applicable), and impose a return charge for considering and refusing your  request on each occasion.

 

2. "Personal Integrated Account" is also named as 'SmartVantage'; Personal Integrated Account and SmartVantage are used interchangeably in customer communications including account statement, bank forms / advices, internet banking platform etc.
