Summary of cover

What’s included?

Medical

We’ll reimburse follow up medical expenses incurred during a trip within 3 months after return to the Hong Kong SAR up to HKD1 million. We’ll also cover additional travel and accommodation costs for your children if they have to travel back to Hong Kong SAR while you stay in hospital.

 

Sports2

We provide cover for various sports and activities, including dune driving, sand boarding, safari adventures, whale tours, hot springs, horse riding, cable cars, iceberg climbing, watching auto racing, water sports, skiing, ice-skating, biking, thrill rides at amusement parks etc.

 

Travelsurance even covers certain hazardous sports activities such as bungee jumping, hang-gliding, parachuting, rafting, speed-boating, jet-skiing, trekking, scuba-diving (not beyond depth of 40 metres), mountaineering, rock-climbing etc.

 

Baggage

You’ll receive cover for baggage loss or damage up to HKD20,000 . We’ll reimburse emergency purchases of essential items or clothing up to HKD2,000 if baggage is delayed for more than 6 hours after you’ve arrived at your destination abroad.

 

Travel delays and loss of documents

We’ll pay up to HKD2,500 if your travel is delayed for more than 6 hours for reasons beyond your control. If you lose important documents such as your passport, we’ll cover replacement costs up to HKD5,000.

 

Golfing hole-in-one

Now you can receive up to HKD3,000 when you achieve a “Hole in One” whilst playing golf at any recognized golf course overseas.

Simply present your China Medical Card with your ID document at hospital admission reception of more than 200 designated hospitals3 without the need to pay any deposit in advance. The annual premium is only HKD300 per card.

Major exclusions

Unfortunately, we can’t cover you for:

  1. war and related perils
  2. act of nuclear, chemical, biological terrorism
  3. suicide, self-inflicted injury, pregnancy, childbirth, insanity, alcoholism, venereal disease, AIDS and drug-taking
  4. property otherwise insured
  5. illegal acts
  6. Engaging in:
    1. professional sports or racing other than on foot
    2. deep-water diving (40m or deeper)
    3. motor rallies
    4. sports or activities in return for remuneration
    5. aviation other than as a fare-paying passenger

Eligibility

To be able to apply you must:

  1. be residents of the HKSAR applying in Hong Kong SAR
  2. be HSBC credit card/account holder
  3. for Adult:
    1. aged between 17 to 85 years inclusive for Single Trip TravelSurance Policy
    2. aged between 17 to 75 years inclusive for MultiTrip TravelSurance Policy, with renewal up to the age of 85 years inclusive
  4. for Child4:
    1. aged between 6 months to 16 years inclusive
    2. aged 11 or below must be accompanied by an Adult
    3. who is not travelling with their parents, the Child can be insured under child benefit upon payment of the adult premium

Credit card protection

In the event of death of the insured caused by an accident outside the Hong Kong SAR, any outstanding balance payable under the insured’s credit cards for items charged while outside the Hong Kong SAR during a trip will be covered.

Funeral expenses

In the unlikely event that a fatal incident occurs while you are travelling, we will pay the reasonable funeral expenses (other than the burial or cremation charges) outside Hong Kong SAR up to HKD100,000

1 Any qualified case for claim amount below HK$5,000 will be processed immediately and claims payment will be approved within 2 working days upon receipt of all required documents as may be required by AXA General Insurance Hong Kong Limited (AXA). Should further information be required, AXA will send a follow up letter to the claimant within 5 working days.

2 The following sports and activities are excluded from TravelSurance: racing other than on foot, deep water diving (beyond depth of 40 metres), motor rallies and competitions, professional sports or sports in return for remuneration, aviation other than as a farepaying passenger in a licensed aircraft operated by a recognized airline.

3 If you enrolled your China Medical Card before Dec 1st 2007, this hospital list is not applicable. Please call the insurance service hotline on (852) 2867 8678 to check the applicable hospital list.

4 Partner means someone with whom the insured person lives in a relationship equivalent to marriage, whether of the same or opposite gender.

 

General Insurance products are applicable to HSBC Account holders and HSBC credit card holders only.

For monetary disputes arising between HSBC and you out of the selling process or processing of the related transaction by HSBC, HSBC will enter into a Financial Dispute Resolution Scheme process with you. On the other hand, for any disputes over the terms and conditions of your policy, AXA will resolve with you directly.
