AUD rose against the dollar on Friday after U.S. yields drop from multi-month highs after strong rally underpinning AUD. Meanwhile investors wait for Australian monthly CPI for Jan on Wednesday and the Retail Sales on Thursday. AUDUSD rose 0.11% last Friday while AUDHKD ended at 5.13 level.

EUR

EUR ended slightly lower against the dollar on Friday. IFO survey showed German business sentiment improved in Feb, however Germany may still slip into another recession. ECB president called Q4 growth data encouraging, but not enough. EURUSD fell 0.05% last Friday while EURHKD ended at 8.46 level.

GBP

vs HKD 9.8316 / 9.9742

GBP ended higher against the dollar on Friday as the UK business optimism improves amid imminent hopes for BoE pivoting to rate cuts. Meanwhile UK consumer morale falls unexpectedly in February. GBPUSD rose 0.16% last Friday while GBPHKD ended at 9.91 level.

NZD

Support / Resistance

vs USD 0.6085 / 0.6259 ➡

vs HKD 4.7611 / 4.8965

NZD was flat against the dollar on Friday benefitting from a robust risk-on move in equities and expectations of a potential rate hike. While the RBNZ is expected to keep its OCR unchanged at 5.50%. NZDUSD rose 0.00% last Friday while NZDHKD ended at 4.84 level.

CNH

vs HKD 1.0814 / 1.0895

CNH ended lower against the dollar on Friday as China's 10y yield fades to lowest since Jun 2002 and China's Jan home prices declined both in monthly and annual terms despite policy support. USDCNH rose 0.04% last Friday while CNHHKD ended at 1.08 level.

CAD

CAD weakened against the dollar on Friday. CAD was pressured by a fall in Oil prices which slipped nearly 3% on Friday and posted a weekly decline on talks of a truce in Gaza while overall demand appears to weaken. USDCAD rose 0.18% last Friday while CADHKD ended at 5.79 level.

JPY

vs HKD 5.1538 / 5.2686

JPY ended slightly higher against the US dollar on Friday as US treasury yields slipped, however the yen was headed for a fourth consecutive weekly decline and is the worst performing G10 currency this year. USDJPY fell 0.01% last Friday while JPYHKD ended at 5.19 level.

CHF

CHF eased against the US dollar on Friday although the USD eased against major peers, posting its first weekly fall this year and US treasury yields retreated as investors pushed back expectations of early rate cuts. USDCHF rose 0.11% last Friday while CHFHKD ended at 8.88 level.

SGD

SGD ended slightly lower against the US dollar on Friday despite a slight easing in the USD and a retreat in US treasury yields. Data showed core inflation in Singapore eased to 3.1% in Jan on back of lower services and food inflation. USDSGD rose 0.04% last Friday while SGDHKD ended at 5.82 level.
